The victim of child abuse, Dave Pelzer was rescued at the age of 12 and raised in a series of foster homes. Now he uses his life experiences to teach others how to let go of the past and use negative experiences to make them stronger when tackling the future. Pelzer will speak on this subject at the West Virginia Book Festival at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23, in the Charleston Civic Center Little Theater.
