Back by Demand--Newpaper Archive Class

Adult Services Consultant Susan Hayden will present an overview of the statewide database Newspaper Archive at the next Fire Up Your Skills class on May 12, 2011.  The class will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 pm in the West Virginia Library Commission Reference Library in the Culture Center in Charleston.  All Fire Up Your Skills classes are free and open to the public.

Newspaper Archive is a full-image database of newspapers from the U.S. and abroad from the late 1700's to the present.

It’s freezing outside but don’t let that be your reason to allow a brain freeze. The West Virginia Library Commission can help with a free “Fire up Your Skills” interactive workshop series.

e-WV: The West Virginia Encyclopedia

Developed by the West Virginia Humanities Council, e-WV is an interactive site showcasing West Virginia’s history, culture, and people. It is thoroughly innovative, enhanced with audio and video, hundreds of illustrations, maps, time lines, and other features. e-WV is free and available to anyone with access to a computer and Internet connection. It includes more than 2,000 articles, thousands of points available in the interactive maps, 10,000 keywords to drive the search process, and more than 12,000 items in the master time line.
